I/we have a war inside us…between who we are and who WE ARE BECOMING in Jesus Christ. Paul, the most decorated missionary in the history of Christianity and the author of most of the New Testament, battled with it.
Romans 7v22-23 says, “I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.”
The question is, what are you going to do about it? If human willpower was the “secret sauce” why would we need Jesus?
Willpower won’t solve the problem. Just because you want to change and put everything into making that change doesn’t mean you’ll make the change. It may work for a bit, but you’ll get tired and stop the effort.
What if, instead of human willpower, we focused on Gods strength in Jesus? What if we invited Jesus into our story to be the Hero?
Check out Romans 7v25 to see who won the day for the Apostle Paul: “Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.”
